...NWS Damage Survey for April 16th, 2026 Thunderstorm Wind Event...

A storm passed through Venango County from 04:18pm to 04:49pm on 
April 16th, 2026. All damage associated with this storm was 
straight line wind damage, despite radar indicated rotation. The 
area with the most notable damage was one mile south of Utica, 
where one tree was uprooted alongside Waterloo Road. Some 
sporadic large branches and small trees were snapped alongside Phelps
Road. This occurred at approximately 04:20pm, tied to a strong 
push of winds on the southern end of a developing mesovortex 
embedded in a line of storms. Peak estimated wind speed was 
roughly 60mph. A second area of more concentrated damage was on 
the southern end of another mesovortex in the line which passed 
one mile west- southwest of Dempseytown at 04:30pm, with wind 
speed up to 50mph knocking down a couple dead trees. Otherwise, 
sporadic damage was noted throughout the county between 30mph to 
40mph, mostly characterized by small branches down.
