Public Information Statement
National Weather Service Jackson MS
339 PM CST Mon Feb 16 2026

...NWS Damage Survey for 2/14-15/26 Tornado Event - Update # 4...

.Update...Added Salem EF1 and Northeast Covington Co EF0
tornadoes. Surveys in the NWS Jackson area are substantially
complete barring any late damage reports. Adjustments to the
beginning of the Norfield tornado path are still possible
depending on the outcome of NWS Slidell surveys.

.Overview...Ten weak tornadoes have been confirmed from severe
storms late Saturday night into early Sunday morning, including
eight EF1 tornadoes and two EF0 tornadoes.

.Norfield Tornado...

Rating: EF1

End Location: 1 SSW Bogue Chitto / Lincoln County / MS
End Lat/Lon: 31.4154 / -90.4636

Survey Summary:
This tornado began near the Pike Lincoln County line and tracked
northeastward across southern Lincoln County, snapping and
uprooted numerous trees along its path. The broad damage
footprint with embedded areas of more concentrated damage
suggests this path consisted of multiple vortices originating
from the same parent mesocyclone. Tree damage was most prolific
west of I-55 along Jack Lane, Summit Drive, Beachnut Trail,
Wallace Drive, Montgomery Road, Dry Creek Trail, and Homesville
Road. A house on Jack Lane sustained shingle damage, and
outbuildings were damaged on Montgomery Road, Beachnut Trail, and
Big Creek Drive. A mobile home was also damaged along Beachnut.
The tornado crossed I-55 about two miles south of the Bogue
Chitto exit, then weakened and lifted as it moved through the
Norfield community. This tornado may have began farther
southwest, and additional surveys are planned to determine the
correct starting point.
