Happy new year!
One of our regular attendees, Roman, reached out about Google's Summer of Code 2026. He asked Tekin and I to drop something on the mailing list, so here we are. Roman's looking for anyone with bandwidth who might enjoy mentoring.
I'm planning to apply for Google Summer of Code 2026 with Rage.
To get accepted, I need to demonstrate that we have a strong support system for the students. I was wondering if [anyone] would be interested in becoming GSoC mentors?
It's a really high-impact way to give back and can look great on a CV. It usually involves 4-5 hours a week during the summer. Mentors also don't need to be experts in Rage internals - just solid Ruby experience and a willingness to guide a junior developer.
