We're in the process of integrating, seems to do what it says on the tin right now, it's a clone of Stripe, with all the good and bad that goes with.

(can't say anymore, we're still in pre-working-pre-beta phase)

We're also using this on a couple of projects that are about to go live. All good so far. Very pleased.

Email Patrick Collison <pat...@stripe.com> and say you want to join the Stripe UK beta.

I got accepted for the Stripe UK beta last week. Think they've a bit of a backlog in getting keys out, but it does seem like a really good payment service. Anyone actually integrated a payment solution using them stateside?

Cool. Good to hear they're dishing them out.

Interested to hear what you're using it for, Ian. Is it your own thing or for a client? Or just playing for now?

I'll give stripe a go. Not been impressed by Paymill so far, they
haven't responded to the email I sent them a few weeks ago.

We've never had any problems communicating with Paymill but maybe they're getting a bit swamped now as they have been getting a lot more attention recently.

I've implemented Stripe integration in a couple of apps, and I can't recommend it enough.  Everything is pretty straightforward, from the API to the web app.  And their customer service has been great, as well.  The only drawback I've seen is that they deposit payments into your account on a 7 day rolling basis, though I guess that's more of a business than a development decision.

Resurrecting an old thread - https://stripe.com/blog/introducing-stripe-uk With ability to charge in $, £ and Euros

No need to look elsewhere! Been using Stripe to process payments for Leanconf and we have had no issues at all.

I contacted Patrick after Jim suggested it. He replied in 3 minutes! It didn't get me in the beta though.

Maybe we should try and get a few invites for the NWRUG, they might fast track a developer user group.

I think it's worth mentioning that AFAIK you can't currently accept anything but EUR and GBP with a UK Stripe account although you can in theory accept USD as well if you have a US bank account (but who does?). PayMill still has it's advantages right now – you can accept and get paid out in far more currencies than Stripe (see https://paymill.zendesk.com/entries/22598076-Which-currencies-countries-does-Paymill-accept-and-pay-out-).

This has been my sticking point with them. Hearing about today's launch, I signed into my beta account on Tuesday to see if they'd changed it.

They hadn't; the UI still pointed out you needed a US bank account ot charge in USD.

I signed in again when I saw today's blog post, and finally, you can.

Rather than pay USD in directly, they convert USD to GBP or EUR for you, and pay that in. So effectively, as far as most of us are concerned, it's as good as.

This makes me VERY happy.

Really? I checked out my UK account today and it seems you can collect dollars through it. Not tried yet though

Ah yes, excellent news! I guess PayMill still supports more currencies than Stripe though if that's one of the things you are looking for.

I used to have an Amex card (for expenses at a company I used to work for). Completely useless.

It's been often reported that adding Amex support results in a considerable uptick in conversions, particularly from US customers. A lot of American bizniz people will have company Amex cards. Without Amex support, a lot of potential customers simply can't buy what you are selling.

Yeah, when I was at Oracle we had to use Amex, and there was some kind of reporting tool that helped the big O keep track of expenses. And yeah ... they are pretty venal and certainly used to employ the Atilla the Hun style of customer service.

37signals uses Amex, as well as some of the employees. They're pretty
common in the US.
