Interesting.   When we had our taxes done, our accountant was creatively musing (because Ross was lamenting our by far, worst loss ever- 70%) about the critical importance of bees for pollination and how if we could find a non profit organization to fund us that it would at least help us continue.  

We need to be continually looking at this as an association; to determine if getting non profit status could be beneficial to us collectively.

Creating a non-profit isn't so difficult for people in the business of tax consulting.  It a huge learning curve, with potential mistakes, for the rest of us.  Non-profit status would increase eligibility for grants and such.  Perhaps we could get help from some beekeepers that are in that field OR at least explain the pros and cons.
