Hello,
nw-gyp was just updated to 3.6.7 to support Visual Studio 2022.
Building native modules is verified to work with nw-gyp and npm 6 (bundled with Node.js 14) as described in the official document:
https://nwjs.readthedocs.io/en/latest/For%20Users/Advanced/Use%20Native%20Node%20Modules/#:~:text=To%20install%20native%20modules%20for%20NW.js%2C%20run%20following%20commands%20in%20your%20terminal%3A
Setting the environment and using npm is helpful when you install a native module with another native module in the dependencies.
Npm and Node.js with a higher version has been broken due to an upstream bug:
https://github.com/npm/cli/issues/2839
Native module support has been in the official tests in the CI:
https://github.com/nwjs/nw.js/tree/main/test/sanity/native-module-buffer
I will continue to monitor this and will fix it if needed.
Best regards,
Roger
