Should have no affect since Node-Webkit doesn't currently support Chrome extensions. It only allows plugins like Java, flash, etc

Does anyone know if this will affect future apps made in Node Webkit / Chromium? I really hope not, as I make heavy use of custom extensions in NW!

Correct, this change in upstream doesn't affect node-webkit.
