Hi NWISA Coaches & Program Leaders,
If you have any new homeschool, ALE, or remote learning 9-12th graders who would like to apply for eligibility to sail with an ISSA member school, please ask them to complete and submit this online form ASAP:
The submission deadline is September 1. Sorry for the short notice. The ISSA eligibility review meeting is tentatively scheduled for September 9.
Please note:
- 8th graders do not need to request ISSA eligibility approval since they can't compete in ISSA national-qualifying regattas or championships (their eligibility will not be reviewed or discussed by ISSA)
- Any students who received letters last school year granting them eligibility through their graduation do not need to submit another request to ISSA as long as none of the provided information has changed/their circumstances haven't changed.
- Running Start students do not need to submit this form.
All NWISA sailors must complete and submit the NWISA Sailor Registration Form before racing in a NWISA regatta. I’ll email that form separately.
The cost of NWISA dues ($210 for school teams of 4+ sailors and $100 for schools represented by 1-3 sailors). Dues pricing will remain the same since we didn’t discuss any change at the post-spring season meeting. Keep in mind $100 per school goes to ISSA. Do not mail checks to the address in Tacoma as listed on your team invoice--please stay tuned for an update from NWISA Treasurer Shawn O'Connor; please pay online if possible.
As most of you know, smaller teams of less than 4 cannot compete in district championships except at the NWISA Singlehanded District Championship/Burke Thomas Trophy, and they do not count toward NWISA’s eligibility for doublehanded national berth consideration. Please encourage sailors (and their parents) who represent small teams of fewer than 4 to recruit more sailors so they have more opportunities to compete and so that NWISA can keep its two berths for Mallory and one Baker berth as well as become a more competitive, respected district nationally. NWISA only had about 22 active teams of 4+ sailors registered last year so we are by far the smallest district now.
Please forward this email to any new coach you know in NWISA and Cc me. If they haven't asked to join the NWISA Google Group yet, please ask them to email Scott Wilson (copied above):
scottj...@gmail.com . I'm Bcc-ing several coaches who may not be in the NWISA Google Group yet.
Thank you!
