Fall Schedule - DRAFT

Hello NWISA,

Thanks to those who were able to attend our pre-planning schedule meeting for next year. Below is a summary of our discussion. Thanks to those that have offered to host and are checking in with programs. Please mark your calendars for our Spring End of Season Meeting on May 23rd.

Notes on our discussion for Fall 2023 - Please note that we would ideally ratify the Fall schedule at our end of season meeting Tuesday May 23rd at 7PM via zoom.

• Focus on high regatta quality for next year and reduce overall number of events
• Girls Quals - Orcas will put in a bid to host again next year. They definitely set the bar high for this event last year.  Any other interested programs are welcome to submit a bid
• Keelboat - Annie will check with Seattle Sailing club and CYC - hoping to host in J80s with CYC facilitating.  Shawn at Oak Harbor and Julia at Orcas may have back up options
• Fleet Race - Regional events North/South - Anacortes and Oak Harbor will split two regionals, Willamette and Olympia are checking in with their teams about hosting south regionals
• Singlehands - CYC would also like to host Singlehands in correlation with their PSSC Small Boat event. They have been doing a great job with this qualifier and we've had high participation from Seattle Area ILCA sailors.  Any other interested programs are welcome to submit a bid
  
• Cascadia Cup moved off of PCISA Girls Regatta weekend - many teams hoping to attend both - Nora checking with SSP & College Teams
• Fall Champs - Moved out of November to reduce season length and for better wind/weather conditions. We need a host!  Any other interested programs are welcome to submit a bid.

Notes on our discussion for Spring 2024: Ideally we end with a draft schedule and then finalize the schedule at the beginning of fall meeting 2023. Early planning allows us to coordinate volunteers, umpires, and hosts

• Discussion about splitting qualifier weekends - most programs (Orcas, Oly, Bainbridge, Anacortes, Willamette, CYC and SSP) shared that they would prefer to return to a one weekend format for Fleet Race and Team Race Championships
• N/S Regionals - Start of season
• Women's Clinic - One week later so all programs are up and running ahead of it
• RR #2 - Anacortes has expressed interest in this or RR #3 or a qualifier and has done a great job the last two years. They would like to book their venue now.  Any other interested programs are welcome to submit a bid
• Team Race Clinics - Gold & Silver Split - clinics were a good intro this year
• Combined Division - Moved later to allow time for seeding and communication with conference following RR #2
• RR #3 - Narrows is considering hosting at Quartermaster Harbor on Vashon Island. Teams could be housed at a local summer camp with food ect. as a part of the regatta. Think "summer camp regatta".  This will take a lot of early coordination with parks department and camps, so Narrows would also like to begin booking early. Any other interested programs are welcome to submit a bid
• Team Race & Silver Team Race Championships - A lot of discussion about how to seed the Silver Team Race championship fairly. All agreed we did not like this year's system, but no solution yet for next year. High demand for Silver, so planning to add back Gallium next year. Looking for a venue that could host both Silver and Gallium (estimated 15+ teams)... SSP maybe?
• NWISA Team Race Champs - Will be the same venue as Baker
• NWISA Fleet Race Champs - Gold and Silver at the same venue the same weekend
• Baker - Will be all hands on deck! If you are interested in helping with Baker or submitting a bid for nationals there will be a planning call on Monday at 7pm. Let Haley know haley....@gmail.com!
