Hi NWIS parents,

We will be creating a NWIS bike book-mobile tomorrow at Caregie-West Library around 5:30-6pm.  Please stop by if you would like to help design the bike trailer!  We will be accepting used books to include in the book mobile which we will pull around the local neighborhoods and from which we will pass out books to young readers.  If you are interested in pulling the bookmobile or accompanying a group of cyclists around the community one evening in August, let me know!  The more bikers, the merrier.  We have a few openings for the school so this will double as a recruitment tool for students and reading mentors.

Also, Literary Lots is hosting a free taco evening for kids (and adults!) at 6pm tomorrow at Carnegie-West Library.  It should be fun and delicious (tacos complimentary by Johnny Mango's and Ohio City Burrito), and has a great series of events for next 2 weeks promoting the celebration of reading and books. We will set up the NWIS table near the Lot and have supplies to make bookmarks and decorate the bike trailer that will become the Bookmobile.

If you have used books to donate to the bookmobile, please bring them and we can sticker them with NWIS stickers.  Also, if you have cool design ideas for the bookmobile, please bring tools or supplies.  We have a banner, t-shirts, stickers, signs, velcro, tape, string, scissors, markers, and pinwheels.  Bells, flags, reflective material would be great to use.

Hope to see some of you tomorrow at Carnegie-West library for making the bookmobile at 5:30pm and then attending Literary Lots and the Taco Night at 6-7:30pm (go to www.literarylots.org website and reserve a spot for free) .  I'll send out a follow-up email later this week with our riding schedule.  If you think of anything else, please send a follow-up email to this one.  The idea for the book mobile is fluid!  And forward to anyone you can think of who might be interested.

Also, try to make the canvassing event for NWIS this weekend, Saturday, August 10 from 10am-1pm.  There will be food provided for lunch for volunteers.  T-shirts will also be provided.  If you know of any prospective students (only 4-5 spots left), please direct parents to Eric McGarvey (admissions director, emcg...@nearwestschool.org) who can further assist.

Yours,
Molly Wimbiscus
