Hi all,
At our last meeting, we planned a meeting for the evening of Tuesday, June 4, even though it's after the end of the school year.
As we discussed at that meeting, I invited Debbie Fisher to come to the meeting, and she has agreed to do so. She and I discussed some of the things that have come up in recent meetings -- discipline and food -- and she will come prepared to talk about them, as well as other questions that may come up in a "principal talk" kind of format.
After checking with Mrs. Fisher, I invited my sister-in-law, a child nutritionist, to come to the meeting as well. At the May parent meeting we had talked about two food-related issues -- use of candy at the school and food service for the coming school year, since it looks like we'll be in our own building. (Mrs. Fisher told me that no contract has been signed for a food service yet, and that she is open to input on this from parents.) But my sister-in-law can't come on June 4.
I think it is still worth having a meeting with Mrs. Fisher, and would very much like to be there, but it turns out that I can't be there either.
So if we still want to have a meeting on the 4th, we'll need at least one volunteer, preferably a few, to take responsibility to get there a bit early and start setting up and to make sure everything is back as it was and more-or-less clean after it's over. Someone will also need to ask for donations for babysitters and pay them. (I can ask the same sitters as last time.)
I'd like to know soon, because I'm putting together a flyer for the June 1 picnic and would like to include a note on it about the June 4 parent meeting. I need to get that to Carmen Rivera by Thursday morning.
thanks,
Piet
