Hi everyone!

Thanks to everyone who contributed either financially or by volunteering to make today's teacher/staff lunch a success!

I wasn't able to be there, but it sounds like it went well. (I'd love to hear from some of the volunteers who were there about how it went.)

We raised $262.96 from 24 contributors, although I think some of them got combined before I received them, so I'm pretty sure more people contributed. The smallest was from a student in Ms. Szilagyi's class who donated 36 cents!

The food cost $170.98:
-Ohio City Burrito -- $100
-Baked goods from the West Side Market -- $53
-Drinks -- $17.98

This leaves us with $91.98. I saw Marie Velez at tumbling today, and she suggested buying gift cards with the remaining money. As it happens, what's left is just enough to buy each teacher/staff member at NWIS a $5 gift card from Starbucks.

Does this sound good to everyone? I'm open to suggestions for other uses or other types of gift cards, but since this money was donated for teacher appreciation, so I'd like to use it for that purpose. If no one minds or has a different suggestion, I will do that and get them to the school before the end of the year.

Piet, Thanks so much for organizing! It was fun but makes me appreciate the effectiveness of a teacher! Whew. I suggest asking Debbie what they'd prefer--perhaps a gift card for dinner/time out together is good...or something else as a $5 coffee may be less meaningful. I could be wrong. I can contribute.

Does your dollar figure include the $120 from the ornament sale? I
still need to give that to you.

Maybe we could buy some discounted gift certificates from Cleveland
Independents? I'd be willing to chip in extra to get there.

It does not include that money, but it's too late. I wanted to get the certificates to the teachers/staff yesterday, and went ahead and bought 20 $5 gift certificates to Bon Bon. That way it's local and it's not just coffee. All staff got one.
