Hello!

I'm the lead instructor on the current installment of Northwest Film Forum's "Filmmaking Fundamentals" series, which you can learn more about here: https://nwfilmforum.org/education/workshops/filmmaking-fundamentals-winter-2022-narrative-w-vivian-hua/

We are currently casting for our student film, "To the Left," which shoots over the course of the next few weeks! Please note that we will require on-site COVID-19 testing and adhere to industry-standard protocols for crew and cast.

See all details below.

LOGLINE
Looking for love via online dating apps, a millenial cinephile finds swipe after swipe falling short of her ideal… but still continues to date around town way too much!

ROLES
  • JUDY (Lead, Woman), huge cinephile who is effortlessly chic and self-assured; she’s out on the dating game and hitting the apps hard… but still picky. She’s been all about town and dated just about everyone.
  • JEFFREY (Man), totally simple boring type without any particularly interesting attributes…
  • NICOLE (Woman), hipster, fashionable type who is super snobby about films and definitely goes to film school (in the annoying way).
  • TAYLOR (Whichever Gender), generally snobby type who dresses well and believes themself to be far superior to others; why are they even app-dating, again?
  • DEAN (Whichever Gender), well-dressed and bougie
  • NINA (Woman), fairly scantily clad artist who has dated the main character, Judy, in the past; it didn’t work out then but she’s willing to give it a try just for amusements.
  • ARMANDO (Man), crypto tech bruhhhhhhhhh; a bit sleazy but dresses in the latest street fashions.
  • BOX OFFICE EMPLOYEE, who works at the best theater in town by choice. Cough.

COMPENSATION
Lead actor (JUDY) will receive a $50 honorarium; all others will receive an Admit Two pass to Northwest Film Forum, as well as a copy of one of the final class edits.

AUDITION DATES

Auditions will be held at Northwest Film Forum (1515 12th Ave.) on Tuesday, March 1st, 2022, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Please send headshots, resume, and demo reel, if possible, to viv...@nwfilmforum.org to schedule a time.

SHOOT & REHEARSAL DATES
