John, Superior photo documentation.  Great story.  Wish I had been there to help.  FYI here is a picture of Sheila and I crossing Alaqua at the FNST log bridge, on 20 December 2003.

I suspect the bridge you documented was a replacement for the one we used then, possibly at a different location.  The new bridge is surely more durable then the one we used.  The bridge was then at coordinates 30° 37.30' / 86° 09.82'.   The stories of our 2003 adventure are the last ones on THIS WEB PAGE.
