Subject: Eglin Earth Earth Week
Projects
All,
Eglin AFB is hosting another Earth Day
event - actually an Earth Week
event! Below are the events (and dates) that
volunteers are needed for:
20 April: Hands-on Education Displays at
the base school - volunteers
will meet at the base school at 0800 and will
help with an array of
education displays ranging from: stormwater drainage,
Entomology,
wildlife displays, cultural resources, aquatics bug touch tank,
air
quality, bio-environmental, energy exhibit etc. This event will
end
around 1430. More than 500 kids will come through all of the
displays
that day and volunteers are needed to help the biologists and
scientists
that are working the displays. All training will be given on site
and
experience/knowledge of the subjects is not necessary.
20
April: Reservation Cleanup - we will meet at Jackson Guard at 0700
and
carpool to the site in government vehicles. We are hoping to be back
by 1400.
Volunteers will help remove trash from a dump site on
the
reservation.
21 April: Memorial Trail - Volunteers will help
with trail maintenance
and also with some minor lake overlook/deck work -
securing and
replacing boards mainly. Volunteers will meet at the Memorial
Trail (on
base across from the flight line on Eglin Blvd) at 0800. All work
is
expected to be completed by 1200.
23 April: Fun Run -
Volunteers will need to meet on base at the pavilion
behind Weekly Pond (off
of Seventh Street - I can send directions)
around 0615 or so. Volunteers will
be helping to set out the race course
signs, set up the stage and the timing
device and also set up and work
the water stations along the race. Volunteers
will be done by 1100 -
just in time for the free lunch for all Earth Day
volunteers that will
be held at the pavilion.
Please let me know if you are interested in any of these
projects.
Directions and additional information will be sent to you depending
on
which project you are interested in.
Have a great
Friday!!!
