The 2014 Summer ASA league is just about here.  We will kick off the year with a Coed Jamboree Invitational Tournament, April 25 and 26.  Depending on the number of teams, we might only play on Saturday.  The entry fee is $125. The fee will be paid before you play your first game.  Double elimination. ASA rules, bats and balls. 1st place gets 12 men's and 12 women's, 52/300 softballs. 2nd place gets 6 of each. In this tournament, both men and women will hit a 12 inch ball. ENTRY DEADLINE IS NOON, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 23.  Contact Justin Lamunyon, 580-548-6123, 580-242-4621, lamun...@sbcglobal.net, or Erin Chappell, 580-402-3172, or post your entry on the facebook page, "Enid Softball Cllub Kellet."

I still have a few team packets at my office. The packets contain the schedule, a rule book and a score book. Men's teams need to be aware that the schedule that was in your packet has been revised. Please see the revised schedule is on the website, www.nwdasa.org.  Mens and Women will play on Thursday nights this year. Lower Coed plays on Mondays and Upper Coed plays on Wednesdays.

Our first Men's and Women's invitational tournament will be on May 16 and 17. For the Men's tournament, there is a $125 entry fee. Double elimination. ASA rules, bats and balls. 1st place gets the entry fee refunded. 2nd place gets 1/2 of the entry fee refunded.

For the women, we are going to try something new. The women's tournament will be by draft selection. Any female interested in playing will sign up and pay an individual entry fee. The amount of the entry fee will be determined by the number of players that sign up, but we hope to keep the fee around $10 or less. The teams will be determined by a draft. Each team will be able to draft at least 1 pitcher and 1 shortshop. This will be a double elimination tournament. We have not yet decided on the prizes for the winning team (and maybe the runner up if we have enough players).

In regards to batting practice, the City of Enid has informed me that no one has permission to practice at Kellet.  They provided a list of backstops in Enid that are first come, first serve and do not require a reservation. the City says there are 3 backstops at Lahoma Courts (behind the fire station near Cleveland and Garriott), Lion's Park has 1 backstop.  There is a backstop at Crosslin park along Purdue and one at Exchange Park just east of downtown by the rail road tracks.
