I have Suse 9 server OES installed on a Dell PowerEdge 2950. Suse
starts to hang and the server degrades over time. For example, first
the box will not respond to SSH and VNC console sessions. Then after
a bit eDir fails followed by the inability to control the physical
console (use the mouse and keyboard).

I have restarted these daemons individually when I can, but the only
solution I have for now is to schedule the server t reboot daily.
Even a daily reboot sometimes fails- I believe cron hangs as well
occasionally.

I haven't found any TIDs on novell.com or dell.com.

What might be wrong?

The system has been stable for a week, which is very good relative to
before I made the following change.

I have ZENworks for Desktops 7 installed on the box. I do not use the
workstation import/export service so I edited the runlevel to keep the
service from starting. I was tipped off that from my software
consultant that there may be a problem with this service on the
versions of code I have installed (this is not the most currently
patched system).

I will keep this post updated as to the behavior of this server.
