Hello Everyone,

We need to make a decision pretty quickly.  The Weekend of June 13th and 14th the columbia river herding group club will be having their specialty in Longview Washington at the Cowlitz County Event Center.

We have the opportunity to have a specialty and have breeder Judge Kim Moshlac judging it.  We could have sweeps as well.  The question to everyone is:

Should we have a specialty?

concurrent or designated?
**Concurrent is we pay some expenses and could make a profit, Designated is less expenses but make no profit**
**Concurrent spayed/neutered veterans can enter, Designated they cant.**

There will be lots of Fast Cat runs, we can have our annual meeting(picnic) and some breeder education.  We could even do a fun match!

The plan is to have the annual meeting that weekend even if we dont have a specialty.

I will need to get the paperwork in THIS WEEK.

Let's hear everyone's thoughts!

Denise

Let's do it.

Denise, let me know how I can help. I am happy to volunteer being Trophy Chair. I have experience with Whidbey Island Kennel Club all breed trophy Chair.

Sounds like a good idea.  How are the hotels in the area?

If concurrent, will there by cardigan classes at the group show? Thats normally what happens at the Hound group show (so 2 sets of points.)

Concurrent would mean 3 chances at points! The CRHGC is having a group show Saturday and Sunday!

We also have fast cat, scentwork, ATT, Farm Dog, FETCH, Junior showmanship showcase. (Barn Hunt has been offered but unsure yet if they will go forward)

I’m all for a concurrent specialty with sweepstakes. Annual meeting and potluck like old times.

Sounds like fun (and far less of a drive than the Merlin show!). I'd vote for concurrent.

Concurrent. With an emphasis on old times = annual meeting, potluck dinner, etc.

Question.
If we put our energy into this, would we still be able to support something in Richland?
I want to acknowledge those voices on the other side of the Cascades who always come west to support specialties and have said it doesn't feel fair to have everything along the I5 corridor.

Did someone say Fast CAT and veterans? Nice venue too. My vote is for concurrent.
Thanks, Denise.

Great question and yes we will still support Richland if the judges are good.   I will be reaching out this week again to Richland and possibly the Timberland show chairs.

Thanks,

Denise

When you have more details (I know this is all very preliminary), please share information about the venue in Longview, such as car parking, RV spots with power, and proximity of parking and RV spaces to rings.  I would like to help with all the social stuff (potluck, etc.) and would like to imagine to what extent we might be able to replicate what we formerly had at Columbia Park in Kennewick.
Thank you,
Mary
