As I mentioned there are three adults and 6 children from two families-the Supaya family from Honduras and the Thompson family from Jamaica in Sanctuary at the First United Methodist Church in Germantown. They have lived in the Church for 4 months and cannot leave because if they do, they will be immediately deported.  Every month a new congregation or organization sponsors a volunteer dinner where individuals can come and meet the families and consider volunteering.  The families need drivers, clothes, translators, health care, ESL, socialization, games with the children, etc.

The volunteer dinner for the Supaya and Thompson family and their 6 children is Friday, January 11 at 6 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Germantown.  Anyone can come and bring food and learn about volunteer opportunities.  The Church is located at 6001 Germantown Ave. and there is parking behind the church.  Below is an invitation from the Northwest Philadelphia Immigrant Action and Mobilization group (NWP I AM) to come and bring a dish:

Hello Friends,

We are hosting a dinner for the two families in sanctuary at FUMCOG on Fri, Jan 11. As you know, the families have now been in sanctuary for several months and are unable to leave the church. One family is comprised of a couple from Jamaica with two teenage children and the other family is a mom from Honduras with four younger children. NW Philly I AM has the opportunity to share some food, company and conversation with these families on Jan 11.

We are planning a spaghetti dinner and have created a Sign-up Genius to cover the food and supplies needed. If you are able to attend, please sign up here for the items you can bring.

Also, if you are volunteering to bring something and join us, please complete the attached volunteer form if you have not done so already. One per family is fine.
