Dear Elders and Friends of all ages,
Elder Witness and Friends is a Philadelphia-based group begun a year ago to use our life experience and perspective as elders -- as parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, protectors of children – to express our moral outrage that children are being separated from their parents or other family adults by our government.
As citizens and taxpayers we are outraged that children are being put in cages/concentration camps under intolerable inhuman conditions for the “crime” of coming to this country to seek asylum from the violence, death threats, rapes, poverty now rampant in their countries.
We have done two actions as a group – one, a year ago, at the ICE office in which six of us were arrested and the second, very recently, a powerful event at Independence Mall without civil disobedience.
Now we’re determined to have an ongoing protest presence as this situation has worsened rather than gotten better under the current administration of our country.
You’re receiving this email because either you’ve been coming to our meetings or have indicated interest in our actions.
We welcome people of all ages who want to stand with us.
Please let us know how you would like to be involved as we stand and act together.
