The turnout wasn't large, but it was spirited. I arrived about ten minutes to 2. Marty Modance and his wife appeared about 2:30 ... and that was the sum total of Sunday's turnout.

It was a great chat. Our conversation varied, as it usually does at these meetings. We talked Obama, of course; the election, Peggy Noonan and other "conservatives" dissing Palin, the Rossi-Gregoire race, the so-called Death with Dignity measure that will be on Washington's ballot (there was not consensus between the three of us on that subject, by the way - showing that only conservatives can disagree without being disagreable), and, perhaps most importantly, what is happening with the Seattle Division of the Northwest Prager Listener's Group.

There were only three of us at Crossroads Shopping Center in Bellevue on Sunday, and all three of us could have saved our gas if we had met where the first meetings took place - Third Place Books in Ravenna, since we were all from this side of Lake Washington. The reason I set Crossroads as the meeting place was to entice those living on the Eastside of that body of water to come out.

What has happened to the group's organizer Michael? I certainly hope he is doing well, and isn't being kept from participating for.

Some time ago the suggestion was floated to start another online forum. Did that take place? Is that why there has been so little participation among the Google Group for the past few months?

There are groups that have their own newsletter. Groups who have hosted Dennis when he visits their fair city. I would very much like this Group to be that active. I would be very open to suggestions on how we can get there. Perhaps contact can be made with some of the more active groups to find out how they did it. Let's do some networking folks, and really get this going.

Marty mentioned watching election returns at some location. Perhaps we can make that something of a Prager Group gathering.

Take care,
Daniel Crandall

We're on the eastside but were high in the hospital in Olympia with said Aunt.   I've given out and talked with about 25 folks with the article.(with mixed results)At least I know I've personally done what I can to effect the outcome.    I think we also need to stop watching TV considering Obama has 600M in the bank ready to blow on media advertising this last stretch.   McCain could use donations to help combat this.  If you're the prayin type then pray.

As for saving gas..........Olympia has premium for 3.09 and the lower grades in the high 2 Bucks.  How about that!  Not so in Bellevue yet.

What's a google group?  we've got a google group?

You know with the media blitz it's truly amazing that McCain is anywhere near competitive.  I find it interesting that Sea Times is endorsing Rossi/McKenna/Reed all republicans.  Maybe everyone is demoralized and/or otherwise occupied on Sundays so was another day ever tried?  I know we're always busy doing something.  As far as meeting in Seattle we might be able to do it at some point.  I've forgotten my way around.

Hey if we meet for the election I think we'll need  plenty of beer to drown the proverbial sorrows.  Actually I was planning to go to bed early.

I agree with meeting on the west side in the future. The place in ravenna is ok.
I would also be fine with meeting at the lady'splace in Issaquah.  I prefer  A house
       to a restaurant.

Apologize for not making it to Crossroads on Sunday.  My best friend returned from an extended stay in Europe and we spent the afternoon/evening outside in the beautiful weather.  I agree it's amazing that McCain is still within striking distance given everything working in Obama's favor - including the financial crisis.  Of course, if people really understood the crisis and its causes, they'd know Democrat policies were at the root of it - though there's plenty of blame to go around for all concerned, worldwide.

Unfortunately I have a rehearsal on the evening of Nov 4 so an election day gathering won't work for me, but I'm still interested in the group and hope we can all connect soon.

I'm trying to maintain a positive attitude about the election, but it seems like a lose-lose proposition no matter who wins, in a way.  If Obama wins I'm terrified of what will happen to the country.  If McCain somehow pulls it out, I'm deeply concerned about the reaction from the Obama faithful.  Their allegiance doesn't seem grounded in ideas, but in a fanatical belief in him as a messianic, transformational figure.  Scary.  What are you all doing to stay sane?

Cheers anyway from Vivian

To Michael Matson, I'm sorry to hear about your Aunt. I hope she is doing well.

To Vivian, It was a nice day on Saturday, and I understand wanting to be out in the sun given those may be few and far between for the next few months. From my office window (it's got bars on it and most of what I see is the I-5 connection to the West Seattle Bridge, so don't think I'm living the high life in a corner office ;) ) I see plenty of sun today.

To what Vivian said about the Obamunist reaction to a McCain victory, I personally would relish it. The mask, held so firmly in place by the Main Stream Media, might finally get torn off, and American's might finally wake up to the threat the nation faces. We might finally bury the lie that the Left cares about America as much those on the Right.

As Dennis wrote in his column last week, there really are two Americas. Blue America (Gee, I wonder why the MSM did not slap that color on Dems in 2000, when this shorthand became so vogue) which exists in all the major cities, hates what America stands for and is doing everything it can to neuter this great nation and make it more like Denmark. And there is Red, White and Blue America, which lives in or longs for flyover country and thinks America is the greatest nation on God's green earth.

A McCain Victory in November might wake some people up to the fact that there are a lot of people in this great nation, who actually loath the nation of their birth.

Take care out there,
Daniel

I'm usually too busy to get out much for another activity, but Sunday
was still in the middle of the High Holy Days and so might have
affected some. An evening after work in/near Seattle often works
better for me before trekking back home to Kent.

Hope to make it to a gathering someday and meet people in person!

To stay sane in such a bizarre political environment, replete with extreme ugliness by the America-haters, I alternately say a prayer for the patriots, and fantasize about possibly becoming an expatriate, at some point. When a shadowy figure who supports a black racist, antisemitic, and America-loathing "church" for 20 years, votes to cut off funding for our troops in the middle of a war, supports the DC gun ban, infanticide, and an 850 billion dollar "GLOBAL POVERTY TAX," to be administered by the corrupt UN, and leads in the polls, I begin to think our people are losing their moorings. At that point, I question why I would choose to live the rest of my life in such an asylum. NOT IN MY NAME! We shall see what happens.
Otherwise, I seek escape in the comfort of my cozy abode, loving wife, pug boys, and cat. Not even Democrats can steal that. Warm wishes to you all, and I hope to see you soon. Keep up the GOOD FIGHT! Cause we are right.
