I just finished listening to Dennis's interview with Peggy Noonan and I'm struck by how blase she is about what's happening to America. Dennis makes the irrefutable point that one has to overcome Leftist indoctrination from the Edu-crats and Leftist brainwashing from the Media-crats in order to think clearly about ... everything ... and Noonan just chuckles and says "we all need to calm down".

Give me a break! Talk about naive.

How does someone as intelligent as Ms. Noonan is become so incredibly blind to what's happening around her, within the nation she cares so much about? Is it her wealth? Is it her own position within the media? Is this what happens when one spends more time in cocktail parties than with people who actually have to work for a living?

With folks like her on our side, its no wonder we're losing.

Take care,
Daniel

Agreed - I heard David Frum as the "conservative" pundit on NPR this morning.  With friends like these, who needs enemies?

By the way, speaking of NPR, why is a tax-supported radio network in a center-right country dominated by leftists? Why have the Republicans become so fearful of rocking the monstrous liberal boat?

Hey I'll forward an email that makes one stop and think.  I'm handing copies out to everyone and asking them to do me the favor of reading it.  Soft subtle but I think we need to fight.  Mike

Some folks to whom you may forward Michael Matson's message might want to know the source of Manual Alvarez Jr.'s commentary. Mr. Alvarez wrote his comments in a Letter to the Richmond Times-Dispatch Editor. The source is available at this link:
http://www.inrich.com/cva/ric/search.apx.-content-articles-RTD-2008-07-07-0033.html

I am sending this along only because a lot of stuff has gone out via emails that have not particularly helped conservatives ("Obama is a Muslim" comes to mind). Therefore, I think it is important to include a source when we forward something to someone.

The devil is in the details, as the old saying goes. The particular detail that needs to be corrected in Michael Matson's very interesting and thought provoking message is in the first sentence in which it is stated that Mr. Alvarez wrote his comments as a "editorial to the Richmond Times Dispatch". It wasn't; it was a Letter to the Editor, which the Times Dispatch published at least online.

I look forward to meeting folks again tomorrow afternoon.

BTW, I know this is the Prager Listener's Group, but I strongly recommend listening to Hugh Hewitt's recent in studio interview with Victor Davis Hanson. It is important to remember that this election is taking place in the midst of a war. A lot of follks are missing that given the important events happening in the American and World Economy. When it comes to understanding world events and the war against Fascislamism in the context of a Classical Education and Military History no one beats Prof. Hanson. No One.

The Hewitt-Hanson podcasts are available here:

thanks I've added this source.  I've got a expat cuban in a class every tuesday morn.......she says everything this man says is correct.  Vicky escaped and ended up in NY-- the rest of the family went to Spain (which is nice to visit). She still has a nun Aunt still in Cuba and they really never hear from her.   I know Dennis wants to have facts and a source and not vapid generalities not backed up by facts and examples.  In this  case we have  a confirming source in addition to Mr Alvarez.  Even with this.......Virginia is a toss up.
