On the day in life of nature editor one, they are currently asking for views on how they can keep going as a publisher. I gave them some feedback on their preferred options but also various other feedback as I suspect their optimistic 10 submissions will rise considerably in the not to distant future and won’t be able to cope.

They recognise the publication model has to change but their options may not be radical enough and may also put in bias and not get the best works.

Academic publishing faced one crisis with move to open access and how they would get money for that and now with AI produced papers and fiction that may be very difficult to detect by reviewers (so reviews take much longer and there are so many more papers coming in).
