This project is focusing on two key disease concerns:

  • Fireblight (Erwinia amylovora), a bacterial disease
  • Gymnosporangium rusts (G. clavariiforme and G. confusum), fungal diseases

By collecting observations and samples from real hedgerows, we can build a clearer national picture of hawthorn health.

Think some delivery companies here also provide the name of the person delivering the parcel although it still does not stop them driving past and putting it in the collection hub some miles away rather than walking up to the house and actually delivering.

What would be helpful is also giving the name of the postal delivery person as I frequently get letters for the wrong house. There used to be an easy explanation for this as the old postie had very poor eyesight and freely admitted it, was a nice person though. Now it is less clear why we still get the bank statements, hospital appointments etc for others in the area apart from there being two rather similar street addresses in the same area, poor decision by council 50+ years ago when deciding on names of places and presumably now impossible to fix.

Also congratulations to Rosemary.

Also thanks to Richard for the 5 reads. I followed up one of them recently and attended a very interesting seminar this week and have contacted the person giving it.

Of interest do the Coriolis forces alter the spiralling in southern and northern hemispheres?
