The little movie of Tristan da Cunha is a gem. 

We've driven in France many times, and I have seen their 'brown signs' but didn't know their history. By the way, Villandry is beautiful, another 'gem'.

Pleased to see a mention of the Bat Conservation Trust. I am a volunteer bat roost visitor linked to Natural England and the Bat Help Line run by BCT. I am also involved with the national bat roost monitoring plan having recorded a lesser horseshoe maternity roost for many years. The data from this monitoring feeds into the UK state of nature report so is extremely valuable. If you have a roost in your property it is easy to monitor it by just counting the bats that emerge at dusk during prescribed times of the year. If you want help with species id then contact your local bat group. They may even be willing to lend you a bat detector so you can hear your bats echolocating .
