Hey all,

Is anyone doing VQ this year?

I just signed up as a volunteer, but I'm guessing that doesn't count. :)

Well, this is the last year they are having it, and it has been my "dream" to do it...I'm just never in good enough shape to do it, but the hubby is trying to talk me into doing it.  I think I'm in the worst shape possible this year, but if there is someone out there who can help us with strategy, then I'd be more willing to take a chance.

Hey no worries.  I'm in awful shape too and I'm trying it finally.  Its gonna hurt but I've wanted to do the last couple years and this is the last chance.  Come on out and lets fight for last.  ;)

I'd give it a go.  I'm not in terrible shape, but I'd need an experienced team.

If you are all going to be there on Sat getting your package and going to the info session, perhaps we should all get together and exchange ideas for Sun?  Just a thought....

What I'm worried the most about, is how to be as efficient as possible, not so much the nav part.  I want to make sure I tackle all the CPs in a way that "makes sense"

Race Map(s):  The majority of this course requires full navigation.  You will be provided with an official VQ race map (custom made by the Quantico Orienteering Club).  All checkpoints will be delineated on your map so plotting is NOT necessary.  Magnetic declination has been adjusted for on this map.  A compass is part of your mandatory team gear.

Just fyi.  If VQ is like EX2's other races then there isn't a lot of actual orienteering, at least not like an OAR race or something like that.  Just something to keep in mind if you're worried about that part.

Kris, I hope at least one of your team is going to be there Saturday.
According to the rules at least one member MUST attend the briefing
Saturday from 5:15 - 5:45.

Other than Ex2's Greenhorn for newbies this is my first adventure
race, so I'm reading and re-reading everything 20 times. I'd welcome a
chance to meet some of you and glean any advice on Saturday.
Cheers,
chris

Chris,

Thanks for pointing that out.  I just went back and reread that myself.  I've done a few ex2 races and thats the first time I've seen that.  THANKS!
