Is there a DEMO version of Stylus RMX Xpanded I can try?

Because of the size of our instruments, we don't offer Demo versions. However, you can contact one of our local dealers in your area in order to arrange a live demo of Stylus RMX Xpanded. To find a local dealer in your area, please contact your local Authorized Resellers.

How are Spectrasonics Instruments delivered to new users?

All Spectrasonics instruments are available in two different editions: Boxed and Download. The physical boxed editions now contain high quality USB drives and are sold exclusively to new customers through our Authorized Resellers. The download editions are now available and sold exclusively through our Webstore/Techshop.

If I buy the Boxed version, will I also be able to get a download in the future? If I buy the Download Edition, will I also be able to get a drive? If I have the DVD-ROM edition, will I be able to get the drive or future downloads if I need them?

Yes to all of the above! We are happy to announce that there are now alternative forms of installation available optionally to registered users - no matter which edition you have originally purchased.

Spectrasonics is keenly aware that many users no longer have computers with optical drives and there are numerous scenarios when the convenience of downloading or the speed of a USB drive would be a preferred form of installation for different types of users. To address all the various user needs and scenarios, Spectrasonics has a new Support Services area that offers Alternative Installation USB Drives and Additional Download Installations for optional purchase. Is there a student discount price for Stylus RMX Xpanded?

Spectrasonics doesn't offer student discounts, however qualifying schools and institutions can participate in our EDU program.

Does Spectrasonics allow for used sales/license transfers of Stylus RMX Xpanded?

How large is the core library?

The Stylus RMX Xpanded core library is 5 times the size of Stylus Classic - over 14 Gigabytes! There are thousands of different grooves and sounds.

Does it contain all the samples from the original Stylus Classic?

Yes! All the original core library samples and enhanced versions of all the classic Stylus Classic sounds are included.

What is Stylus RMX Xpanded?

It's a Virtual Groove Module plug-in, which combines a massive 14 gigabyte core library with a powerful, yet easy to use interface for manipulating the sounds in unique and innovative ways. It includes all five Spectrasonics SAGE Xpander libraries (previously sold separately.)

What formats does Stylus RMX Xpanded import?

Stylus RMX Xpanded can import all the Groove Control sample libraries and Propellerheads REX files as well... which vastly expands the capabilities of this instrument, since this opens up the potential of using your own audio loops and third party REX libraries.

Do I need a MIDI keyboard to use Stylus RMX Xpanded?

No, you can use it completely with a mouse if you want. However, it is faster to use and more inspiring if you also use it with a MIDI keyboard, since Stylus RMX Xpanded can be "performed" in real-time.

Does Stylus RMX Xpanded include a manual?

All our instruments include a comprehensive online Reference Guide, which is accessible directly through the plug-in. The integrated Reference Guide is searchable and we can keep it up to date with the software releases. You can check out the Reference Guide HERE.

How fast of a computer will I need to run Stylus RMX Xpanded?

Not very fast, but as with all virtual instruments - the faster the better. Stylus RMX Xpanded is designed to run optimally on modern computers. See the System Requirements for more information.

Does Stylus RMX Xpanded need as much CPU power as Omnisphere?

No. Grooves and rhythm require far less polyphony than most of the sounds in Omnisphere, and as a result typically require significantly less CPU power to run.

Can I selectively install parts of the Stylus RMX Xpanded library since it is so large?

Because of patch compatibility, Stylus RMX Xpanded must always be installed with its complete core library. However, you can install the 14 Gigabyte library to a secondary or external drive if you wish.

Is anybody else having a probelm pairing an Apple Pencil. I insert it into my new 2gen iPad Pro 12.9 and it briefly shows the dialog to Pair and then shows it connected, but then disconnects, and then I get an Error that the Pencil took to long to pair. Then it doesn't work.

After one year i tried to use my pencil again and i have the same kind of problem. First i got messages there wa sonly 3% battery left. Charging didn't helped. I tried a reset of the ipad pro even a hard reset, nothing helped. I went to the apple store and they couldn't help, they don't know if there is a problem and the warranty was expended.(14 months, pffffff ) Back home i tried to charge the pencil true USB with the adaptor and after 15 tries of plugging it in and out of the ipad suddenly i got connected for 7 seconds, then disconnected again, and then connected again for a few seconds. Because of the short period of connection i could see that the battery of the pencil was at 100 % again but still it can't keep the connection. The icon of bluetooth at the top of the ipad is blinking all the time. After awhile the same problem of the beginning had came back and I get an Error that the Pencil took to long to pair. And again the same pairing problem came back. Ipad sees the pencil but it can't pair with it. Its a brand new pencil i only used it once when i bought it and left in the box for over a year. So it must be a hardware problem, so apple fix it please.

i'm having the same exact issues. Trek all the solutions other posters have noted with no success. However I can pair a $19 Wacom stylus with no problem While the $99 Apple Pencil is virtually useless until Apple does something.

I am not having the same problems, what I am having is the Apple Pencil Losing paring. I have my pencil is never less than 2 meters from the my iPad Pro 10.5, I am on iOS 11.0.3. Everyday I have to plug the pencil into the port so it pair. This didn't happen in iOS 10.x

My friend had an apple pen that was never opened. sadly he passed away, but I just opened it now as i mispalced my own one and connected it to my Ipad. the Pair option comes up and goes really fast. If i do manage to press Pair, it says the Pen is connected but immediatly say Not Connected. I have done all the software updates on my Ipad but still the same issue....Please help.

It is amazing! I didn't use a hairdryer but instead placed the pencil on my stomach that was very warm for no more than 30 seconds, attached it to my iPad and voila it started to work. No idea what's going on there but thank you everyone on this forum!

Confirming the hair dryer worked on a 1st gen Apple Pencil paired with 6th gen iPad. Hadn't used the pencil in close to a year and was having pairing issues. Held it under the hairdryer and boom - works perfectly again.

I hacked the connectors off the el-cheapo phono leads and drilled a hole in the side of the connector barrel to accommodate the red LED. I soldered the resistor & LED onto the base of an old metal phono plug and tested it for brightness and correct height to actually light up the record when on the platter. When I was happy with the height I put the LED & plug into the connector barrel and filled it from the top with sugru, smoothing off the top to make a nice finish. After 24hrs the Sugru had completely set and I had a new red LED stylus target light ?

The System.Windows.Input.StylusPlugIns architecture provides a mechanism for implementing low-level control over Stylus input and the creation of digital ink Stroke objects. The StylusPlugIn class provides a mechanism for you to implement custom behavior and apply it to the stream of data coming from the stylus device for the optimal performance.

Each UIElement has a StylusPlugIns property that is a StylusPlugInCollection. You can add a StylusPlugIn to an element's StylusPlugIns property to manipulate StylusPoint data as it is generated. StylusPoint data consists of all the properties supported by the system digitizer, including the X and Y point data, as well as PressureFactor data.

Your StylusPlugIn objects are inserted directly into the stream of data coming from the Stylus device when you add the StylusPlugIn to the StylusPlugIns property. The order in which plug-ins are added to the StylusPlugIns collection dictates the order in which they will receive StylusPoint data. For example, if you add a filter plug-in that restricts input to a particular region, and then add a plug-in that recognizes gestures as they are written, the plug-in that recognizes gestures will receive filtered StylusPoint data.

If a StylusPlugIn throws or causes an exception, the application will close. You should thoroughly test controls that consume a StylusPlugIn and only use a control if you are certain the StylusPlugIn will not throw an exception.

If you add a FilterInkCanvas to your application and run it, you will notice that the ink isn't restricted to a region until after the user completes a stroke. This is because the InkCanvas has a DynamicRenderer property, which is a StylusPlugIn and is already a member of the StylusPlugIns collection. The custom StylusPlugIn you added to the StylusPlugIns collection receives the StylusPoint data after DynamicRenderer receives data. As a result, the StylusPoint data will not be filtered until after the user lifts the pen to end a stroke. To filter the ink as the user draws it, you must insert the FilterPlugin before the DynamicRenderer.
