Apologies if you've seen this before. Want to make sure everybody hears about

The fundraising event held last Saturday (Nov 21) to benefit the North Village
Branch Library was successful beyond expectation. We raised $1167, all of
which will go to benefit our local library. Thanks to you, we will be able to
replace most of the periodical subscriptions that were dropped due to budget cuts.
The weather man pulled a cheat on us. He promised all week that the rain would
stop by Saturday morning. Unfortunately, what we got instead was cold and
drizzle. Fortunately, spirits (and merchandise) were not dampened, and the
sale went on.
Neighbors pitched in and contributed all week long. We filled up two garages
with donated thrift sale merchandise. Neighbors also baked cookies, cakes,
breads and bars. On Saturday morning we had enough merchandise to fill 12 long
tables, and enough bake sale goods to fill another two tables.
Thanks to our sponsors, the North Shoal Creek Neighborhood Association and the
Friends of the North Village Branch Library.
Thanks to the staff, students, and families of Pillow Elementary for hosting
and supporting our event. Thanks to Mr. C. B. Devoy and Basic Rental Service
(10410 N. Lamar) for donating the use of rental tables.
Thanks to the residents of North Shoal Creek, Wooten, Allandale, Crestview,
and other neighborhoods for helping make the fundraiser a success.
It's great that we all came together and raised significant funds for our
local library -- but it isn't just about the money. We also now have a group
of people who actively support our local library.
So we're pleased to announce the formation of the "Friends of the North
Village Branch Library", a group of neighbors and supporters of the North
Village library. We've started an email list, which we hope will be a source
for news and events about our local library. For more information or to join,
please visit the group page at:
