I appreciate your posting of this, Ian. The parts that I most appreciate, I have copied below with my comments: I'm LOL because I intended to just copy the parts that resonate in me, and I left it all there! So I get that my needs for diversity, aliveness, presence, integrity, clarity...and I bet a bunch more o needs are attended to with these words. See below this quote for some more words from me....
"Focusing is a practice that honors what arises freshly in the moment.
Frozen structures of any kind are antithetical to the ethic of
Focusing. Therefore, the Focusing Institute takes as a core value the
principle that the practice of Focusing, how it is taught by certified
Focusing teachers, and its application in different fields will not be
standardized. Diversity of approaches will be protected. Constructive
critiques among Focusing Trainers or between TFI and individuals
presenting or applying Focusing are welcome and should be offered by
means of open, respectful communication. TFI itself will seek to honor
the values of non-standardization in its operations while recognizing
that tension can arise between maximum diversity and the need for
effectiveness and efficiency in meeting its goals."
When I read the words below from the
cnvc.org website about sharing NVC, I feel settled and content, my needs met here, too.
"So you have no objection to any of us going out and teaching NVC?
Not at all, we encourage it. We appreciate your sharing from your own
experience and clarifying that your teaching is based on your
understanding of Nonviolent Communication."
Curious if anything of what I have written has stimulated something in you?
Warmly,
Mair Alight,Certified International Nonviolent Communication Trainer
