Regarding proteinSW example debug assertion with thrust::system error

I am trying to run the protenSW example given here: https://github.com/NVlabs/nvbio/tree/master/examples/proteinsw

My system specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce Titan Black (latest drivers 353.06) on Windows 8.1 x64 VisualStudio 2013.

The program runs for a while and then gives the following debug error

If I break and look on the console, the output is as follows:

Is it due to the Windows 8.1 Display Driver timeout that the debug assertion is displayed or am I doing something wrong?
