Hello Everyone!

It is that time of year again…the time when we put out a call to all of our great past, present and future volunteers. As many of you know, The Nature Conservancy is in the midst of restoration work at the Mustang Ranch restoration site and this will be the primary location for our volunteer work in 2011. This will be a great time to see a restoration site in the beginning stages of work and to have a hand in the transformation to a vibrant ecosystem.

First event on Saturday April 16th!

We have a number of volunteer events coming up which I will list below along with details on the April 16th event.

Please email or call me(775.224.9158) if you are planning on attending any of these events so that we can plan accordingly for food, tools etc.

DETAIL INFORMATION ON THE UPCOMING APRIL 16TH EVENT:

When: Saturday, April 16th -   10am – 2pm (Drivetime from Reno is approximately 15 minutes)

Where: Mustang Ranch Restoration Site (Directions below)

What we will be doing: This can vary a bit depending on the forecasted weather, river level etc. but tentatively, we will be planting a number of plant species. For some planting we may be using a water-jet method which can get a bit muddy so be sure to bring shoes/boots and clothing that you don’t mind getting a little muddy/dirty.

We will be having snacks and drinks available at the event but feel free to bring something along as well for yourself and/or to share.

Directions to Mustang Ranch Restoration Site: Take I-80 East to Exit 23 (Mustang) and continue east/straight along Frontage road. You will pass a gas station on your right and then the road will bend to the right towards the river. Road crosses bridge and continue for ½ mile past the bridge and turn left into the Harco Trucking entrance. Quickly turn left again at the end of the guard rail and proceed 200 feet to the parking area outside the gate. Please keep this number (775.224.9158) on hand in case you have any trouble finding us.

For all volunteer events, we will provide all the tools, but think about bringing:

- A few layers of clothing you don’t mind getting dirty – temperatures can vary quite a bit as we progress through the day…typical Nevada.

- Work gloves – We have some available as well but helpful to bring if you have them.

- Solid shoes - sandals etc. wouldn't be a great idea. We will have some rubber boots but please bring some as well if you have them.

- Sun hat/Sun Screen.

- Water/Small Snack.

- Lots of Energy!

Thank you all in advance for your time and interest – looking forward to seeing everyone out there. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Please email me if you are planning on attending any of these events so that we can plan accordingly for food, tools etc.
