email address from google form entry invalid

I am having people submit a google form that will populate a google sheet. With form mule, the submission of the form should generate an email. The email goes to an address that is one of the form questions. It is a drop down question, so I am positive that the email address is typed correctly and that there are no extra characters. 

When I submit a test form, I get an invalid email error. 

The spreadsheet has populated fine with the correct email chosen from the form. When I preview the template, it also says invalid email for the to: part of the template. 

I have another cell in the spreadsheet that populates with the email address of the person filling out the form that is automatically captured when they are signed into the google workspace. That populates the reply to: part of the template and that part appears fine in the preview so it doesn't appear to be all emails but rather just emails that are form answers. 

Any help?

Look at the error message.  Check the data in the spreadsheet for spaces.  Did you type the merge tag or click on the list of fields?
