Form Trigger can not be activated

to NV Form Mule Add-on

Hi All,

i am a new user to FormMule, since i installed it i cannot activate the Form Trigger button as you can see in the attached pic.

any ideas how to solve this issue?

i have tried to change the browser, made a whole new google sheet and i still face the same issue.

Hello not-eager-to-use-common-courtesies-such-as-a-name,

FM is not an addon with a couple of checkmarks to click and all of a sudden everything works.

There are a couple of fine walkthroughs which guide you in the initial setup of your sheet.

You need to prep some columns which contain something for which you want to set a trigger for...

Maybe it's easier and faster if you have a look at the advanced video's on FM which also discuss triggers, like:

In all you will use your time much more effective by consuming a couple of those vids instead of questioning why something isn't available to you...
...it'll become much more clear once you made FM to work using the basics...

...and I don't promise you any revelations, but you might be in for a positive surprise how easy triggers can be set afterwards :)

Try using the Form Responses sheet or tab within the spreadsheet. I see Sheet1 is being used.

FormRanger is looking for a Form sheet to associate with the Form Trigger.

Hi Bart,

While i am tempted to match your passive aggressiveness equally, but i prefer to address some points:

I apologize, this is actually a temporary email account i created because i didnt feel comfortable using my personal account on this laptop that does not belong to me. i am Masoud, and you can address me as such :)

i consumed some training material for FormMule (including those you shared with much appreciation), but i still face the same issue. i am assuming by now that i may actually need more training.

it did not work unfortunately, i believe it might be interfering with some other formulas that i am using in the sheet.

If your spreadsheet setup and the 'tab' (sheet) with the replies from the connected form are okay...
...maybe create a duplicate of the sheet ('copy'), without all participating (shared) editors and reviewers...

...and then annonimize all data that is in this 'copy'sheet (things as email-addresses, names, phone numbers, etc.)...

...and then duplicate this sheet again ('testbed') again and share this with my email-address...

...with at least reviewer with commenting rights...

...so i can quickly check if your datastructure (colums+formulas) is allright.

Please only share the testbed (anonymized copy of the copy) so i'll have no means to gain insights in any personal data.

We'll open the embedded chat functionality or a Meet if I can see how you can be helped out ;)

Hi Masoud,

To help you out and make some progression I've composed a testbed sheet with Form Mule with a working setup.
Both a Form and the Sheet it has been attached to have been shared with your Google account...

...feel free to leave a comment in the sheet or a question if you have one.

In the sheettab 'FM setup screenshots' you'll see where you got stuck on the trigger part...
...FM can be triggered in Time (every x hours, days, weeks or month) or when somebody submitted a new form entry.

I love the optional case-number and (editable) URL of each specific form entry can be added to each record if desired.

This allows you to track progress and combine records and you can mail back the specific URL to the address of the submitter so (s)he can edit her response...
...eliminating the need to re-enter all answers in the form entry again (and basically send a whole new entry (record) instead of correcting a specific answer.

Anyway, which 'trigger' FM gets to inspect your data/replies may vary but the culprit is really what the 'send condition' is for a specific reply (with its corresponding template)

Hope you appreciate the insighs and wish you the best in creating a marble of a solution using FM ;)

Hello Bart,

thank you very much for the detailed information. i can see the Form Trigger now, but i am struggling with a new issue, i want an email to be sent every time a cell in a column is filled with information. i am sure i did not set it up correctly, would you be available for a Skype call?

A FormTrigger only works when a new form is submitted.

If you run a time trigger and change a value to match the filter set for the template, the row will process.

Are you wanting to resend a row if the data in a row change? You would have to use a script to clear the status column. That row should run on the running of a time trigger.

I hope I'm not making it more complicated than you need.
