Tag multiplication, weird data appearing in sheets, and the email templates aren't working/saving

Hey all!

I am setting up a request form and using formMule to disseminate incoming requests to the right email addresses. I actually had this working perfectly just a month ago with a prototype build, and after getting a bunch of feedback from my end users it was easier to scrap the old data sheet and link the revised form to a new one.

I set up my seven conditions based out of a column in "Form Responses 1" and went to build the email templates. The first thing I noticed was that when I added a merge tag via clicking on it on the right, that it put seven copies of it into the template, regardless of what tag I clicked.

The next is that my templates are not unique, and they don't seem to save.

And finally, whenever I try to set up an email template, "Available tags:" appears highlighted in yellow in cell A8 on all seven of my other sheet tabs, and the sheet tab labeled LOGISTICS also gets a list of all available tags in B8 downward.

What might I be doing wrong or missing?

Hello Mark,

Are you still seeing this issue?
This is very strange behavior. I would open up Form Mule, from the dropdown menu go to step1. "Choose source data and set merge type" and then make sure the correct sheet is selected. It looks like it is writing the email template on a sheet you are actively using ( this should not be happening)

If you can revert your sheet back ( via revision history) to before the template tags started appearing on your other sheets, then open up Form Mule, from the dropdown menu go to step1. "Choose source data and set merge type" and then make sure the correct sheet is selected.
Hopefully, that will help resolve the issue. 🙏

Thanks!

I was actually just about to post my solution, which was mostly that I missed a fine detail on how Form Mule works!

I had several additional sheet tabs that were named the same as the ones Form Mule was trying to set up as hidden sheets, and it was causing all manner of chaos. Basically the lesson is: don't name your email templates and your Sheet tabs the same names!

Awesome! So glad you were able to pinpoint the issue and find a solution.
Thank you for this update and for sharing those wise words " don't name your email templates and sheet tabs the same name"!!!
I think other users can relate to this.
