Hi

Can someone please help!

I am a very experienced user of Form Mule and have been using it for many years.

For some reason, on a few of my systems there is a sporadic issue where clicking on the Form Edit URL, adding some new answers and submitting the form is NOT resulting in the new responses populating the associated Google Sheet.

I have tried several times and it seems as if the FORM EDIT URL is no longer associated with the Sheet.

The only solution has been to create the responses from scratch on a new form by downloading the responses CSV from the Form itself where generally I can pick up the responses even though they are not in the Sheet itself.

On some occasions I am missing the responses completely and can't find them anywhere.

Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone know what is going wrong and how I can fix the issue.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Many thanks

Dave

Hi Dave,

The form edit url that Form Mule writes to your spreadsheet is pulled directly from the attached Google Form.
If you could do a test to see if indeed the link is broken bc Form Mule is writing it to your sheet or if this is a Google connection issue by filling out the form yourself (maybe in your personal account or a different account you have access to) and then taking the edit url you get after hitting submit (Edit your response link) and seeing if the changes land in your sheet.

Also, I have heard reports off and on for while concerning form responses not landing in the response sheet:

This other Google Form Support Post singles out that the updates to not land on the spreadsheet if the modified response contains a "selection box" ( the user here might mean multiple choice or checkbox question type). Is this relevant to your form questions as well?

Hopefully, we can figure out what is going on here, thanks for the details!

Thanks Amanda

Sorry for the delay getting back to you!

All question types used & multiple sections as the form is part of a highly complex monitoring system going on in multiple stages over an academic year. This is why the system breaking is a huge problem! It also generates multiple reports over the year via Autocrat so it is not even as simple as linking the form to a new sheet!

I was assuming this was a Form Mule niggle but I think you are suggesting this is actually an issue with Google Forms.

Thanks again for getting back to me.

Morning Dave

This could be a temp solution. Send out a global email to all staff that receive the submissions from FormMule and make them away that it is currently not working. And then (daily or every 2 says for example) send out the spreadsheet so that they can continue to “trade” without delay until you find a permit solution.

Maybe have a look at Google Form Add ons I’m sure they’ll have something on there.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Connor

We seem to be having an issue where the form edit link is not populating in the spreadsheet.  I have tested this myself and it is still happening.  Is this a known issue or just  glitch this rainy friday morning. ??Julie

I'm having the same issue.

The only way I can seem to get it to work again is to go through as though I'm setting up FormMule (and click through the steps -- with all the original setup data already in there). It's obnoxious, but it's the only "fix" I've found.

It seems to be working again now.  I did that was well but it didn't work right away.  I recently cleared my cache, so not sure if that was what it needed or not.  Just glad it seems to be working now.

I have a ton of forms that rely on this function so when it doesn't work correctly, it is a huge problem!

Same! We have an entire system that hinges on that darn URL generating (so frustrating)!

I will try clearing the cache as well... just for good measure. Thanks!

Hi Julie,

Glad to hear that this feature is working again for you.
I am looking into what could have caused the issue and I think if the Form Edit Urls stopped logging this week than it is connected to the Google Service Outage which happened twice this week. This outage affected add-ons from running and disconnected trigger functionality; knocking off a form trigger would halt the Form Edit Urls from being logged back to the spreadsheet.
I am happy to know that the issue has been resolved for you and if this happens again I would suggest toggling the triggers on and then off; open up Form Mule to the first step "Choose source data and set merge type", make sure the correct tab of your spreadsheet is selected in the 'set merge tab' dropdown, then toggle the form/time triggers off >save> open Form Mule back up and turn them back on again. Run a test form submission
