Step 2 Verify/Update Roster in Infinite Processing Loop

I added a few additional names to a roster and wanted to update it so the newly added students would receive the assignment.  Each time I click "Yes! Update Roster" I get a never ending spinning wheel.  I have loaded and reloaded the sheet and tried the process five times and allowed it to process for over three hours - still the same result; processing wheel spinning.  Has anyone had this issue?  More importantly, is there fix for this issue?  Thank you in advance for any assistance on this matter.
