Doctopus not Ingesting

Hi there, 

I've been trying to get Doctopus to ingest assignments, but it's just sitting on the spinning ring -- I've tried twice now, and each time it continuously spins for about 20 minutes before I give up. I'm able to get through all of the steps of attaching it to a class and to an assignment, but it won't actually load the work itself. What should I do?

After looking back through previous posts, I can't seem to find similar error messages. Here's what shows up in my Console.

Hi Katherine,

Thank you for providing an image of the error console and for looking through past posts to see if you could find any resolutions.

I have seen this error one other time when there appeared to be duplicate class' in the 'Select Class' drop-down of Step 1.

If you delete this spreadsheet and try again on a new spreadsheet, can you check that after you select 'Ingest a Google Classroom Assignment' that the 'Select Class' dropdown has only one of each of your class' listed?

I went in and permanently deleted the spreadsheets I had made before. Here are the screenshots of each step:

Wonderful! Thank you for going through and documenting these steps.

Are you still encountering the same issue on this new spreadsheet?

If yes, can you please take another screenshot of the error console when you get the spinning wheel ( I am curious to see if the error is still the same) and could you also tell me exactly what time the error occurred at ( example: 12:01 pm EST)

Sorry for the delay -- here is the screenshot. It began doing the circle of doom at approximately 7:59 am. I just checked and it's still circling.

Hi Kate,

We appreciate you hanging in there through this troubleshooting phase & posting this image along with the time of the error.
I brought this issue up to our developers and showed them all the steps you have taken along with the error messages, they pushed a fix into the codebase.

When you get a chance can you please try again and see if you are still experiencing this error?

Hi Amanda, 

I tried again yesterday morning. As of now, the wheel is still spinning trying to load. I've attached screenshots of the errors, which are new.

All of the errors around the internet being disconnected are from multiple hours apart when I was moving from my classroom to somewhere else, like a meeting or home. I'm not sure about the 400 errors, though.

Hello Katherine,

Thank you for all these details.

I am curious, are any of these Google Classrooms that you are selecting from a "copy" of another class or "copies" of each other? 

The developer I discussed this error with is curious if you starting over with a test Google Classroom, created from scratch if you would receive the same error.

Hi Amanda, 

No, unfortunately, this is not a copied Class on Classroom. Would you like me to try with a sample Classroom? I can do that (although it might have to wait a few days until I have an hour on my hand to mess around with it)

I'm also encountering this issue. I'm including a screenshot of the Console, in the hopes that this helps! It's going on about 30 minutes for me.

Hi Jessica,

Thank you for sharing this image, can you delete this sheet, open a brand new spreadsheet and this time do not check off "Only ingest assignments that are turned in". Leave this box unchecked.

Well that ingested the files, but now it's not letting me attach a Goobric. Every time I search for the rubric I want I just a get a gray screen (see screenshot).

Good to hear that assignments were ingested. Thank you for trying that!

For attaching the rubric, try finding the rubric on your drive first and opening it.
Then go into your doctopus sheet, select 'Attach Goobric' and sort the window by 'last opened by me'
This should bring up the rubric you just opened.

I faced the same situation.  I let the Ingest process run through two class periods and still nothing.  I found that unchecking the box to ingest only those turned in resolved the issue.

I'm having the same problem with the wheel of death and nothing ingested. I tried the new sheet without selecting only ingesting submitted assignment, and that did work. However... Is there a plan to fix the glitch stopping it from only ingesting submitted files?

Good to hear that the assignments ingested when you left that box unchecked.

I have relayed this issue to the development team who will be looking into why this issue is occurring.  Will provide updates on a fix as I hear them, for now I would say stay with this workaround until we get an update. Thanks!
