Not updating edit counts

I really appreciate the "refresh last edit/word count" so I know which students have started or revised their work and don't have to open all the docs to check when giving mid-assignment feedback. On my most recent assignment, it stopped working, and I now get an error of:

Caught something:
toString(): value: [TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'toLowerCase')]

I'm not sure what's different now. I did start writing notes in the "grade" and "comment" columns, but I didn't change the headers. I also sorted the list by first name. I re-sorted by last name and copy-pasted the grades and comments to some unnamed columns (and then deleted the contents of those two named columns) to see if that helped. Alas, the function stayed broken. Is this happening for others?
