I am using autocrat to generate a pdf each time the google sheet is updated from a google form.  I have the settings set up to output a PDF, and I also have SINGLE OUTPUT MODE selected, and RUN ON FORM TRIGGER selected.  At times (not all the time, just here and there...) autocrat runs and generates ONE PDF, but includes TWO ROWS of data.

I looked at the source data and can't seem to figure out why it happens - there is no consistency.

Here is an example of some data:

Google Form Timestamp: 8/3/2020 14:16:51 - Record 1
Google Form Timestamp: 8/3/2020 14:26:16 - Record 2
Google Form Timestamp:  8/3/2020 14:35:14  - Record 3

Emails/pdfs generated as follows:
email w/Subject tags for Record 2; PDF named with tags for Record 3 - PDF contains output for Record 2 followed by Record 3

Has anyone seen this problem - and more importantly tell me how to fix?

Thanks in advance.

Single output mode is not meant to run from a form trigger.  In your case, the records are close enough that Autocrat might be able to do a single output record.  If the records are ten minutes apart, you will get a separate output file.

I would suggest either running on a time trigger at a time of day that you don't expect any entries.  If that isn't possible you can run manually or use multiple output and a program to merge the pdf's into one document.  There is PDF Mergy online tool and There is a product from the Microsoft store if you want to download the files.

Hey Joe -

Another question for ya - any way to copy an output job?  Given the situation, I'd like to break into separate files and run on a time trigger - but merges have lots of fields.  Thoughts?

You would have to do a test.  If run hourly, you could get 24 files per day.  I think Autocrat is smart enough to mark which rows it will run.

I don't know what Autocrat will do if it is in the middle of creating a single output mode file and another response comes in.

You can test by having 50 rows and a time trigger.  When you see Autocrat start, submit another row.

Google limits the number of minutes a script can run and I believe Autocrat creates a new file when it starts over because of the time limit.

How many responses do you expect to get?

It is an interesting puzzle that I have not tested before.

I think what's happening is that we are getting lots of responses in same time intervals.  No big deal - I am just playing around now that I know more of the scope of what it will do.  We are doing health record updates - for all our students - and it works nicely - except that now the nurses have some dups that I want to avoid at all costs.

Thanks for the info - you've been so helpful!
