Color change of tick mark merged to pdf

I have used a green heavy tick mark and a red heavy X from google docs in a google sheet.  Once I merge the sheet into a pdf with autocrat the green check mark turns black while the red X looks like it is supposed to.  Is there away to make the green tick stay green?  If you merge to a google doc it all looks correct; however, ultimately I need a pdf.
