Is it possible to use a doc template saved in a shared drive (team drive) when using autocrat? It looks like I'm only able to point to docs I have saved in My Drive. Also, is it possible save the completed merged files to a shared drive? I'd like the completed files to be accessible by multiple members of my department. I understand that I can share the folder with them, but we utilize shared drives for many collaborative department projects. Thanks for any advice you can offer on using shared drives with autocrat!

Currently, autocrat does not work with shared drives.

Joe,
Can this become a feature? I have the same question as Nicole and would really love to be able to work out of our team drive rather than share the folder. Thank you!

I believe it is on NewVisions radar.  I'm not sure that Google currently supplies the API for an application to work with a Team Drive.

Hi Megan,

We have the same issue. I did find a work around, if I created a job in My Drive then moved it to the Team/shared Drive it worked. You can point the merged docs created to be filed in the team drive, regardless of where the sheet that creates the documents resides (from memory it took a bit of manipulation). However in saying that I eventually came across a big hiccup that made me go back to working out of My Drive. I was no longer the owner of the original file and some of the triggers stopped working, or, if I had to make changes, I couldn't, due to the fact of not being the owner. It is very frustrating as I much prefer team drives!

I hope what Joe says about it being on the radar is true!

Megan,

By being on the radar, I meant that NV is aware that many folks would like to use a Team Drive.

As you pointed out, there are issues with Add-ons being run from the Team Drive.  I suspect the same problems would happen if you tried to run any script on a file in the Team Drive.  Google has the problem of figuring out who owns the trigger and who can delete / change the triggers.

We have to trust that NV and Google have a plan that will "always" work before Add-ons work in Team Drives.

For the record,  I'm just a retired IT guy who likes to help folks.  It is my hobby.
