Tags not filling

I have tags in my merge template and only some of them are pulling into the merged files.  The rest are staying in the << >> format in the merged file.  How can I trouble shoot this?  

I have double checked they are mapped to the correct columns and there is data in the cells.

I don't think a merge tag inside a table works with a slide.

I would start by making sure the merge tags that are not working are on top.  You can have multiple layers in a slide.

I would start a new template and put the troublesome tags in text boxes.  Run a merge occasionally to be sure the merge tags are being filled.

The next step is the hardest.  Try to figure out what about the complex template is keeping the merge tag from working.

No, they are going into a Google Doc.  I did reorder the columns, would this cause an issue with the tag being filled in?  Some are working and others just show the <<xxxxx>> format in the merged document.

Did you try a new template with just a few of the merge tags that were not working?

If you did and the merge tags started working, I would say it is the template.  You can do some fancy stuff in a document as well.
