AutoCrat not sending emails; no error message

Hello, 

I searched for this question already but did not find a solution.  My AutoCrat is not sending emails on Form completion, though the document is merging successfully.  I've tried disabling and then re-enabling the trigger in my Manage Triggers menu, as well as remapping in the job (pg 8 and pg 9) to no avail.  I looked in my sent inbox and nothing seems to be going out so it doesn't appear to be a spam filter issue.  Does anyone have any ideas or has anyone run into this situation and have any fixes?  Thank you in advance for your time and attention to my problem!

Hello,

What is the text under the 'Merge Status' column say for these rows.
For example: "Document successfully created; Document successfully merged;......"
Is there an error message in here about sending emails?

Thank you so much for your reply!  I think we may be onto something here.  This is what the message says: 

Document successfully created; Document successfully merged; Failed to add 1__...@threewire.com as editor: API call to drive.permissions.insert failed with error: Bad Request. User message: "You are trying to invite 1_____@threewire.<?> Since there is no Google account associated with this email address, you must check the "Notify people" box to invite this recipient."; Failed to add 2__...@threewire.com; 3__...@threewire.com as editor: API call to drive.permissions.insert failed with error: Invalid permission value; !!Error Sending Emails: Invalid email: 2__...@threewire.com; 3__...@threewire.com; Run via form trigger as egoodth...@gmail.com; Timestamp: Feb 12 2020 3:58 PM

I am not sure how to fix this issue or where the 'Notify people" box is--do you have any ideas on how I can circumvent/fix this issue?  Thanks a bunch!

Consider sharing the file as a PDF.  Those folks probably don't have a Google account.

Hi Joe--thanks for the response!

I want to preserve the editability of the merged document, since I will need this individual's input into the Doc for my purposes.  In order to do so, should I require a @gmail address?  Previously, I had the prompt "Collect Email Addresses" checked on.  Even though the Form completers would submit a non-gmail address, I wouldn't experience this problem.  I encountered this issue when I unchecked the 'Collect Email Addresses' option, and instead prompted the Form completer to enter their email address in a separate line on the Form.  Is this also playing an issue?

Evan,

Did you have the "limit to one response" turned on before?  They would have gotten a message and been required to get a Google account.  I think the difference is that you had the "limit to one response" checked.  Google can't give Edit rights to someone without a Google Account.

I'm not sure why you changed the form.

Hi Joe, 

I know the old adage "if it ain't broke," but for my purposes, the way the Form was set up was causing a lot of miscommunication, so I am trying to find a workaround--that's the only reason I changed it, though this is so currently so much more of a headache that I am strongly considering just switching it back at this point.

Regarding your question, I did not have the 'Limit to 1 response' box checked, because there are many instances when the Form completer will submit more than one Form.  Also, I know for certain when I had the 'Collect email addresses' box selected that Form completers were submitting non-Gmail address, and AutoCrat was still sending emails without a problem.  If there was a way to specify which email address to submit on the Form with the 'Collect Email address' prompt, that would be great, but to my knowledge, there isn't a way to add any additional descriptions to this prompt.

Any ideas?

Greetings again, 

I just realized that this error message ("Failed to add pbl...@threewire.com as editor: API call to drive.permissions.insert failed with error: Bad Request. User message: "You are trying to invite..." etc.) has been ongoing since I started this merge job up, and I did not experience this issue previously. This issue has only occurred since I unchecked the "collect email addresses' box and prompted my Form completer instead specify their own email address and the address where the Form should be sent.

I just went in to edit the Form to try and troubleshoot--I turned on/off the 'Require Sign in' AND 'Collect Email addresses,' and now neither are working...

I'll bet you didn't use the same settings on how you wanted to share the file.  If you don't use the Anyone with the link, then the email must be a Google account.

If you choose Anyone with the link, then it doesn't matter what email you use.

For the email addresses you are collecting in the form, EAM and SOS, do you have the email address validation set in the form?

I'm having the same problem.

Where is the "Notify people" box to invite recipients? 

This is what I have on the Share page:

My previews are generating an email to me, but when I run a test, to a different email, nothing is sending. The document doesn't say it has been shared, and recipients were not notified. 

Please let me know if I'm missing something. 

I'm trying to create it as a PDF, and it's not triggered. I'm generating tax receipts, one time. The merge tags work in the documents created, but it's not being recognized in the email settings. 

Where do I find the merge status message? Is there an archive of the jobs I've already run? The only time I get an account of what happened is when I run the preview. It created a preview doc but it didn't share the link. :(

But when I run the test job, I don't even get a status. The box just closes. I don't see a place to find the merge status, so I feel like Evan, you're ahead of me.

Is there supposed to be an attachment, or at least a link to the preview PDF it created? 

Please let me know where I'm going wrong! :(

Good morning Gary, 

I'm not sure I am following you here--what do you mean by 'email address validation'?  I don't see this option in the Form settings; here is what I have currently:

I do have this specified in my Doc template, though I was under the impression I don't necessarily need this specified in the Doc template if I don't want this info necessarily pulled into the merged document.  I'll attach an image below; do you mean putting data validation in the linked Sheet?  I haven't done this in the past when it was working...

Any advice?  If I can't have emails sent out, this significantly hampers the functionality of this program for me...thanks in advance for your attention and assistance.  I don't understand why this has suddenly crashed, this was such a fantastic program before...

That doesn't seem to be a fix--I've tried sending a test through without this email validation on and it is still not working.
