Hi Joseph,
It would seem that I am not the only one to suffer from this.
I use Autocrat for about six different routine bookings eg for training or assessment sessions and Autocrat has been doing a great job for several years. In the last couple of weeks I have found:
  • when I open autocrat it says there are no jobs set up
  • Some jobs have lost all the links between the template and spreadsheet columns.
I have tried to follow steps you have suggested to others with similar problems but not successfully. For example, you suggested:
"Look through the revision history until you find a hidden sheet called DO NOT DELETE - AutoCrat Job Settings."
When I look at "Version History" I do not see details such as the DO NOT DELETE tab
That tab is present on the spreadsheets but mostly it appears to be blank.

I really hope that we can get Autocrat back on track. It is the BEST when it works!
Thank you.
Roger

Go back to the last time Autocrat worked.  There should be a sheet and there will be a row for each merge job.

Once you have Autocrat working, duplicate the sheet as a backup.  That will eliminate the need to search history.

I didn't write Autocrat.  I just know a little about it.  Autocrat reads the sheet, then deletes the sheet and at the end of the job writes the sheet again.  The only thing that changes is some of the status columns.

If an Autocrat job should fail before the last step, you have the situation you are having.

I hope the above helps.  If not, tell me where I have confused you.

Dear Joseph

When I try to create a new job, there is this warning. Could you help me, please?

ERROR

Error: Tags fetching failed. Please make sure type in all tags in your template manually. AutoCrat won't fetch tags that are from copy & paste.

Thanks

Kind Regards
Anabela

Autocrat is unable to locate any merge tags. This happens most often when the template is a slide.

Make sure the merge tag is in a text box and don't get too fancy with the background.

Do what is says, which is to delete and retype the merge tags.

I am in Google Sheets, and I went to extensions, Autocrat and 'open' (launch isn't on there).  When I open Autocrat in Google Sheets, there is this error message:  Error: Tags fetching failed. Please make sure type in all tags in your template manually. AutoCrat won't fetch tags that are from copy & paste.

I am not in the Google Slide I am going to merge with- I haven't started a 'new job.'  There are no merge tags in the Google Sheet because this is the spreadsheet from which the information is coming. The tags are in my Google Slide.

How do I resolve this?

Check the template and retype any merge tags.  Are the merge tags in a table?

It is best to use merger tags within a text box.

Don't get too fancy template.

I would have to see the template.

Remove the hidden sheet and try again.
