Hi,

I'd like to bring text from my Google sheet to the certificate in Slides in the color in sheets, based on Hex color listed in the sheet. How would I do this? Thanks

I don't believe you can as the Add on will just pick up the bare text and place it into the document overwriting any formatting within the template.

Try changing the color in the template.

The merge tag should bring in the text but the color, font, and size should remain the same.

Yes, I know I can adjust the template, but I want to change the color based on the text. For example, if a boy's name, the text color should be blue, if a girl's name, the color should be pink.

Thanks

This is how I would do it, although Joe is the expert:

I would have 2 merge jobs with 2 separate templates, one with pink and one with blue (that I assume you would have a question on the form to differentiate). Have the jobs trigger off of that question response.  If a girl, it would kick off the girl merge job with the pink template and vice versa.

I have never done this but if you can figure out the codes to change colors you can make them part of the merge tag.

I use CHAR(9) for a tab or CHAR(10) for a LF.  That goes back to my days of controlling a printer with codes.

It would be "codes"&merge text.

I don't know any easy way to do that.

Doug,

I'm far from an expert.  I just have lots of experience.  If there are just the two colors, your idea is great.

If you want to have lots of color changes such as changing the color based on the grade.  Red is terrible and Green is good.

I consider myself an experienced learner.  Somedays, I learn quickly and others not so much.
