Hello,

I have this message with one particular sheet since this morning. The message says: ERROR: Exception: We're sorry, a server error occurred. Please wait a bit and try again. Screenshot attached.

I have set up two jobs/templates that were working perfectly.
All other sheets and jobs work perfectly on the same account.
I logged in and out several times.

Any clue?

Regards,
Thomas

Hello,

This message is usually connected to a Google server or internet connection that was temporarily unavailable.
Most of the time this issue should resolve itself within a few minutes.
It is curious that you are only seeing this message on one particular sheet and not on others that also have Autocrat jobs (I'm guessing you have checked within the same timeframe)

I would also double-check that you are only logged into one Google account  (multiple accounts open can cause permission issues) and all files connected to this job are on your drive (not a team or shared drive). You can also try an incognito window to rule out another add-on or extension interfering with Autocrat from running.

Thanks!

Exactly. Same account (but different sheet) at the same time.

Yes, disconnected all other accounts. And files on my drive (not team and not shared.

You can also try an incognito window to rule out another add-on or extension interfering with Autocrat from running.
Tried and tested. Issue is the same.

=> And it was running fine. Used it many times over the last couple of weeks before the error showed up. I did modify a few fields on the template (added a page and a few simple fields), and then it started to happen.

Thomas

Hello,

Additional clues.
  • I shared the sheet with another account and then logged in with it and it worked fine. Back to my account (author and owner of the files), still the same error ERROR: Exception: We're sorry, a server error occurred. Please wait a bit and try again..
  • Clicking OK at the error, gives me a blank window (Autocrat / No Job)
  • When clicking new, I just get the loading bar forever

Thomas

Hello,

I think I identified the problem: it comes from the template: seems like Header and Footers shall not be used in templates.
  • Works fine without header and footer
  • Does not work with Header and footer with fields
  • Does not work with Header and footer without fields
  • Template does not work even after removing headers and footers => Need to create a brand new document.
Has anyone encountered the same problem? Could anyone test?

Regards,
Thomas

Hey Thomas,

Thank you for digging into this issue more and testing out possible causes.

Can you share a copy of your template and I would be happy to test it out!

(Regardless of the modifications you make to the template, you still do not see this error when logged into a different account, is that correct? That is still a curious error)

Thanks!!!

Sorry I did not update on that matter: same issue with any account. Maybe I did not test it properly, thus the strange behaviour.

Regards,
Thomas
