Merged documents images

I have used the code:

=arrayformula(if(row(A:A)=1,"ph_cwte",substitute(CC:CC,"open?","uc?export=view&")))

To display thumbnails instead of the actual images to work around images having to be public.

The issue is this solution is very random, sometimes it works perfectly and other time it throws an error on the merge to pdf:

All images are uploaded fine to the folders.

Document successfully created; Invalid image URL [https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1_NVlCd0SAOsD8AR41aG3SZtlLE2miK6v], make sure that it is public; Invalid image URL [https://drive.google.com/uc?

Document successfully merged; PDF created

Any ideas as to why this function is so random?

That arrayformula will not change the URL to return a thumbnail instead of the image.  I was working on getting an update to the documentation yesterday.  It is on my to do list.

The images have to be anyone with the link.

The issue of random missing images has been going on for a long time.  I think Google made a change that is not returning the image before the script continues to the next row.

I don't know if NewVisions has the same problem when they use Autocrat in their work with the NewYork schools.
