Subject- "presentism" concept caper

Most unusual series of events still occur here at Denver

And should be aware of the "presentism" concept caper-

"critics take today's cultural standards and apply them to people's conduct of the last century, which
implies they were supposed to predict from then, what the standards are supposed to be 90 years later,
and behave the way things would be later

Really shouldn't do that, eg- "tickets issued retroactively for 20mph zone when the street was later altered to 10 mph

critics want to hold yesterday's people to the standards of today's morals, folkways (traditional social customs), and criticize based on how people behaved 90 years before- it's called presentism

Perspectives might be different nowadays vs 90 years before

Some refer to that criticism from any small group (such as those who have different traditional customs or management styles) as "tyranny of the fringe"

Paraphrased from the literature- "With literary analysis, presentism is a term for the introduction of present-day ideas and perspectives into depictions of the past.

The practice of presentism is regarded by some as simple fallacy when discussing the past.
