This past Saturday, the chapter worked with the Aspetuck Land Trust to remove invasive vines and shrubs from the William S. Warner Preserve on the upper Mill River in Easton. The effort was a fantastic success and to paraphrase Ross Ogden, our Conservation Chair; this was a great example of two like-minded organizations working together to make habitat improvements.

Roughly 25 volunteers came out and we had a very good mix of ALT members as well as Nutmeg members. Many vines were cut, and many invasive shrubs were either cut or pulled, bagged and then hauled away. Some bank stabilization and path re-routing also was done to protect the stream as well. Indigenous plant species will be planted in the fall.

This is only the beginning of the improvements that the chapter intends to make on the stream and I am very pleased with our latest effort.

I would personally like to thank all of the chapter members and the Aspetuck Land Trust members who came out to work together on this effort, the area is much healthier thanks to all of you.
