Airwallexย  |ย  Singapore

Software Engineer Intern, 2027

12 weeks. Real projects. Applications close 18 September.

Hi NUSHackers,

I'm Greg from the talent team at Airwallex. Applications are open for our 2027 Software Engineering Intern Program in Singapore, and I wanted to send this to you directly rather than let it get lost in a job board somewhere.

Quick context: we're a global payment and financial platform, founded in Melbourne (I'm based in the original Melbourne office), now 2,300+ people across 27 offices, working with over 250,000 businesses including Qantas, SHEIN and Rippling. Our Singapore engineering team builds on the real thing โ€” money moving across borders, at scale.

What makes this internship different

You own a project from week one. Not a side task, not shadowing. One scoped project that's yours end to end, and you present what you built at a showcase to our teams.

A mentor and a manager, both. Plus a structured induction week, three programme check-ins, and a cohort of interns going through it with you.

A modern stack, and AI you'll actually use. Kotlin, Kafka, Kubernetes and React. Our engineers ship 120+ merge requests a day with AI agents in the loop, and you'll learn where LLM tools genuinely help and where your own judgement has to take over.

It leads somewhere. Many of our interns receive an Airwallex Graduate offer at the end of the programme.

The details

When: 17 May to 30 July 2027 โ€” 12 weeks over the summer break

Who: Penultimate or final year Bachelor's or Master's, or any stage of a PhD, in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent

Attach: Your CV and academic transcript, both as PDFs are required when you apply.

Closes: 18 September 2026, 2359 SGT โ€” we review on a rolling basis, so earlier is genuinely better

Read the full role and apply

One thing worth knowing before you apply: we ask you not to use AI tools for the application or interviews. We want to hear how you think, in your own words however you will have a specified part of the technical interview to leverage your AI skills and of course you'll use plenty of AI once you're here.

Have a look around first

No pressure to apply blind. A few places to get a feel for us:

๐ŸŽฅ Why join the Airwallex engineering team and the wider Life at Airwallex playlist โ€” our engineers, in their own words.

๐Ÿ“ How we use AI agents in software development, on our Life at Airwallex blog.

๐Ÿš€ Our monthly release notes โ€” the clearest picture of what we actually ship, month after month.

๐Ÿ’ผ Our careers site โ€” every open role (we're rapidly scaling), including this intern role (9 spots) and possibly a 6 month credit bearing placement (2 spots).

Questions about the role, the process? Just reply to this email โ€” it comes straight to me.

Good luck,
Greg
